Working with Catherine in the Youth Programme Team at Wellcome Collection was always a pleasure. She has a brilliant balance of detail-orientation and seeing 'the big picture which, when combined with her high quality interpersonal skills, make her an effective team-mate, project manager, content-deliverer and administrator. She is intuitive about the needs of young people and what they will find engaging, as evidenced by the successful Saturday Studio workshop programme that she initiated and managed. The way she researched, piloted and established the programme for SEN students was very impressive. Catherine's calm strength in stressful situations, thoughtfulness, enthusiasm and humour made her a valued colleague to everyone at Wellcome Collection, and I hope I'll get to work with her again in the future.

Youth Programme Producer

Feb 2015 - Apr 2019
Part of the team that developed and delivered the programme of activities for engaging 14-19 year olds with Wellcome Collection. My main responsibilities included the planning and co-ordination of our study day programme for schools, the development and organisation of our new bookable offer for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and the development and delivery of creative youth projects with co-produced outcomes. Previous projects include the introduction and delivery of the Saturday Studio programme of monthly youth workshops for the past three years, the planning and co-ordination of four sixth form symposia, as well as the co-ordination of multiple youth projects with creative professionals through our RawMinds project series and partnerships with local schools and charitable organisations. Examples of RawMinds co-production projects: a game design project where the group made new video games for interactive public exhibition (opening October 2019), a documentary making project that included a residential visit to a bushcraft camp, a product design project where the group designed new items that went on sale in our museum shop. Examples of School and Charity co-production projects: a theatre project in collaboration with young people from Body&Soul and artists from Frantic Assembly, an art installation project between Year 9 boys and the artist Verity-Jane Keefe, titled 'Natural Habitat', exhibited in our ReMaking Nature gallery and featured on BBC, an artist-developed radio project where young women from New Horizon created content for a live one hour radio show on Resonance FM, two dance performance projects in partnership with Camden Summer University, one led by ZooNation dance company and one by choreographer Neil Brown.

Selected to work as part of the small team that planned, organised and delivered Imperial’s public outreach events: the four unique Fringe events, as well as the two-day Imperial Festival that received over 12,000 visitors. The role required the ability to work well in a team as together we planned creative outreach ideas and arranged scientific contributors from across the University, as well as physically setting-up and dismantling events. Excellent organisation was key in order to arrange events to meet bimonthly deadlines alongside my masters studies and the availability of contributors.

Repeatedly selected to work as a volunteer Events Assistant for this annual outreach event. This was excellent practice in how to tailor communication appropriately to a diverse range of individuals as I aided a wide variety of visitors, from school groups through to elderly visitors. The ability to adapt to any task at a fast-paced live event was important as my role varied from registering school groups to aiding with panel discussions, and confidently dealing with unforeseen issues from the public or contributors was vital.
