Research and development of networks of silver nanowires for use in transparent conducting networks. One of the main problems currently facing transparent conducting electrodes is that the most commonly used material, ITO, is both expensive and brittle. Silver nanowire networks are a promising alternative to ITO. Silver nanowire networks exhibit similar electrical and optical properties to ITO but, importantly, they are flexible, meaning that they can be used in technologies such as bendable displays and solar cells.
