      • Jun 2022 - Jun 2022

Design Academy Eindhoven, formerly known as Akademie voor Industriele Vormgeving Eindhoven, is proud to present a very special edition of its annual graduation show in Milan. From 7-12 June, with this year’s Intergenerational Graduation Show, the Academy is celebrating its 75th anniversary! Bringing together original graduation works from 75 years of DAE’s existence, the show highlights not only the excellence and creativity which students and alumni have brought to the field, but also the ways in which design itself has transformed and adapted across the decades. The exhibition will feature the original graduation pieces from alumni, with a particular focus on a diverse mix of generations, mediums and materials. Rather than presenting the history of DAE as an archive, the exhibition team has put an associative curatorial approach around the materialities of projects at the centre of the show, and developed an exhibition which allows for associations to unfold and surprises to pop up! Expect a diverse collection of over 150 celebrated and unexpected projects! Show less

Caterina Tioli and Matteo Viviano take us on a visual journey through the northern Italian region of Parco delle Cinque Terre. How did dry stone walls and terraces carved into steep mountains change the landscape over time? What is the dynamic between human modification and the re-use of nature? Video and photo documentation reveal unique stories about these changing landscapes that influence the local community, their traditions, knowledge and perspectives. • Oct 2019 - Mar 2020

Design is a materialistic phenomenon. And that’s a challenge, as good design today has to be responsible. Hence designers focus more and more on different ways to produce and use assets, like re-using old- or developing new – sustainable – materials. They experiment with new (or old) production techniques, they play with scenario’s for the future, and question practices from the past. The exposition CIRCULAR>MATERIALISTS. shows how both accomplished labels and starting designers tackle the fundamentally contradictory theme of sustainable design. Show less

The Design Academy is known for its global relevance and influence into the broadest reaches of the design field. The Graduation Show, which takes place annually during Dutch Design Week, is a focal point in setting the school’s agenda. This year, the iconic factory setting becomes the background for yet another radical turning point in the show’s history. Traversing the boundaries between the four Master’s and eight Bachelor’s departments, a new curatorial strategy will continue to question and revisit how designers present their work, sparking debate about our collective positioning within the field.
