I worked with children who were diagnosed with Autism, Multiple Disabilities, psychiatric disorders, and other Health Impairments in a school-setting. I primarily worked with children to improve their reading comprehension, articulation, pragmatic language, and language development skills using low to high-tech AAC devices. I programmed, taught, utilized AAC with students, teachers, family, and other professionals. Many of my students had 1:1 paraprofessionals and multiple services (PT, OT, Counseling, etc.) which I am familiar with collaborating often. Show less

During my experience at All In One SPOT with Theratalk, I was a graduate student clinician who took on a caseload of 30 clients for the summer session. The summer session was for 6 weeks, not including observation hours a month prior to working with my clients. My clients ranged from the ages of 2-16 years old, with various disabilities such as language acquisition to severe autism. I was responsible for and gained much insight in writing session notes, session planning, counseling, writing end of the year progress reports, and conducting evaluations (including writing evaluation reports). During this experience, I worked with co-clincians in a ToTalk program servicing children ages 3 to 5-years-old with language delays. With my co-clincians, we informally evaluated five children to create treatment plans and lesson plans for each child, as well as created progress reports and referred further therapy or discharged students as necessary. Also, I serviced a child who stutters individually by creating treatment plans, lesson plans, and progress reports. I specifically utilized the easy-onset technique and provided visuals aids and functional strategies to use in daily life to reduce his disfluencies. Show less

As an undergraduate, Adelphi provided me an amazing opportunity to work in a clinical setting in the area of related services, such as speech and language. I gained experience with working in a group setting with children with language delays. I was taught professional ethics, different treatment techniques to enhance speech and language, evidence based practices, constructing goals and lesson plans, and creating treatment plans and progress reports.
