      Food education project funded by the Ministry of Health of Portugal and Portugal Social Innovation Programme. Creation of the Regional Observatory of Food Security of Algarve (Food security monitoring) and the food education campaign "Prato Certo. Choose your plate wisely! ". A multidisciplinary team – involving social sciences, nutrition, gastronomy and communication experts – developed an action kit to allow caretakers, and educational and social stakeholders to foster events on awareness and food empowerment among their target population. Development of an educational kit which includes a cookbook, an inspiring video and a food education book to organize and guide food empowerment activities. Moreover, it includes a dynamic and educational platform where it is possible to find all these materials and other features aimed to promote healthy and affordable meals, based on the principles of the Mediterranean diet pattern. This project is implemented among 13 municipalities of Algarve with the goal to support them in the improvement of their local food strategies.
