Below are the two briefs for the development projects I completed with IT Career Switch, which can be found in my bio: https://cassiofortunato.co.uk/ Portfolio Project #1: “Gazetteer” The task was to respond to a website specification for a map-based app that provides information on selected countries, with a focus on a “mobile-first” development. I had to use a framework, to then develop HTML, CSS and JavaScript with jQuery modules and PHP server-based components to source data from third-party APIs (Geonames, AccuWeather and more). The solution was assessed on its delivery to specification, functionality, and usability. Portfolio Project #2: “Company Directory” A more rigorous response to this specification was required, as I had to prepare a user requirements document which, when signed off, triggered the release of SQL allowing to develop a “mobile first” application to maintain a company personnel database (MySQL). Sign-off is only achieved upon the student supplying an independently witnessed document providing confirmation of the system’s ability to perform error-free. Show less

As a Customer Service Representative within the Savings Department, I provided direct support to customers on all queries related to their accounts, from simple account management tasks to complex complaints, maintaining an excellent level of service at all times. Despite of most interactions with customers being fairly short, I did not consider the job to be done once I put the phone down. I constantly gathered insights on how to improve existing procedures and what new ones could be created to elevate and simplify the customer journey even further. During my short time with Hodge, I am proud to have suggested and pushed for changes that were not only implemented, but that also had proven positive impact in the overall customer experience. In my role with Sitel, I was part of the NHS Track and Trace campaign. The training provided by the company, honed my customer service skills even further, enabling me to really engage with our customers, encouraging them to share their views and to be open about the reality of what they were going through, which given the nature of the campaign, sometimes wasn't easy to share. By demonstrating openness and honesty, I quickly built rapport with the customers, and managed to successfully close the vast majority of the cases assigned to me, having persuaded the customer to follow an agreed plan of action. During my time at Vale, I was part of the Maintenance Planning and Scheduling Department. Using IBM Maximo, Oracle ERP and MS Project, my activities involved procurement/purchase of material needed for maintenance of the plant's equipment, scheduling, planning and reporting results of maintenance service orders. I also had the opportunity to be one of the few selected to help plan the plant’s first general maintenance shutdown, under the guidance of a seasoned project manager. There were more than 900 maintenance orders to be executed in less than 45 days. At the planning stage of the project, I organized and liaised meetings between the operational and maintenance departments and multidisciplinary teams to stablish the goals for each sector of the company and scheduling of the activities. During the execution phase, I documented deviations, reported progress and used Pareto Charts to help focus our efforts where they were needed the most. At the end of the project I generated a document containing the project's achievements, lessons learned and improvement points. Show less
