Key Achievements • Elected by over 75% of voters in 2 consecutive years with record voting turn out in the second year. • Generated over 650K funding for sport at York throughout my time in office. • Project managed Roses 2015 to become the biggest in its 51 year history with 8,000 spectators (170% increase on 2013). • Attracted and contracted 8 new partners for Roses 2015 generating 50K to enhance the event. • Secured 180K Sport England funding to drive sports participation through the ‘York Active’ programme resulting in a 200% increase in sports participation and engaging 70 new volunteers in the first 6 months. • Negotiated £30K per annum from the University for the Talented Athlete Scheme enabling the implementation of financial bursaries, Strength & Conditioning and a Rowing Coach for the next 5 years. • Partnered with Santander to provide two 5K bursaries for York’s two most talented athletes. • Introduced a Sports Union fee generating 50K of income per annum for the Sports Union to develop. • Secured £23.5K alumni funding to introduce on-campus Physiotherapy (used by over 150 students across 30 different clubs), Pre-season Training Camp and an Inclusive Sport Scheme which received a YUSU award in 2014 and was praised by the National Union of Students (NUS) - http://goo.gl/wAt2uq. • Saw an increase in York’s BUCS rankings from 43rd to 36th as a consequence of above funding injections.
