Pine Tree Camp is a summer camp for adults and children with disabilities! * Time Management – Keeping a schedule and being responsible for leading and engaging campers in a meaningful program for the entire length of time. * Conflict resolutions – Campers sometimes don’t agree and need a mediator. Staff are often in that role whether its determining order for an activity, figuring out what belongs to who or who hurt whose feelings. * Team player – As a camp we work within a team of 70 staff (Management, Office, Counselors, Program, Kitchen, Maintenance and Nurses) which can further be broken down into teams of 6 counselors within the cabin working effectively in co-ordination with the rest of the camp staff. We need each other to thrive and feel comfortable asking for help from one another but also a large part of what we do comes from using our own initiative. * Leadership/Role model – Sometimes we are leading the team and sometimes we are not but we are always leaders to the campers and have a responsibility to uphold a positive and respectful image. * Problem solving – We are often faced with tricky situations which need resolved, we must be fair, professional and reasonable. Making sure our campers needs always come first and aiming to make the outcome an easy transition for all involved. * Personal responsibility – We are responsible for the safety and well being of the campers, we must keep them both physically and emotionally safe. Sometimes we make mistakes too and we need to know that it’s okay not to be perfect and learn from your experience. * Work ethic – We work 24 hour days and are expected to maintain a positive upbeat attitude at all times. We are expected to make every moment of the campers day interesting and exciting. Come rain or shine we always work with a smile on our faces. * Flexibility and Multi-tasking Show less

Customer Service and Satisfaction is a very crucial part of this position, and I feel as though I am very good at both. Working in timely fashion is very important as well, and I do my best to make sure the costumers are satisfied, get the product they would like, get it how they would like it quickly, and leave with a smile on their face every time. Keeping the work station clean is a very important part of this position too. I always made sure that my work station was clean and organized. If I was sick, I would make sure that I had coverage rather then just calling out and leaving my associates with out help. During the summer of 2012, I had no transportation and still got to work on time and never missed a day of work. Show less

I really loved my job at Sweatt-Winter. I assisted the teachers with anything they needed in the classroom, as well as did some cooking; I was also responsible for making sure that the facility was clean. During the summer of 2012, I worked 40 hours a week at this job on top 10-20 hours a week at my other position, Hannaford. I kept myself very busy, never missed a day of work and was never late! My experience at Edgewood was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. While there, I bonded with clients, grew as a person, and learned a lot about myself. Finally, I was learning everything that my textbooks in school were saying but I was getting the hands on experience, which really helped me. I filled out paperwork, did one on one activities with clients, and even arranged for a University of Maine at Farmington singing group (The Clef Notes) to come in and perform for the residents. The friends and memories I made will be with me forever. Show less
