I collect water and soil samples, monitor air quality and oversee soil excavation or well drilling projects at sites that have been environmentally compromised. I also monitor groundwater remediation systems and complete environmental compliance reporting requirements with the state of Nevada. I have supervised and logged the drilling of monitoring wells, performed pump tests on production wells, and compiled quarterly reports required for sites undergoing remediation activities. Having a beard garnered me a little more respect, but my lack of intimidating energy really made kindergarten classes challenging. I kept subbing part-time on my days off for a few months after starting a full-time job because I had a lot of fun. Every day required learning the landscape of a new class and adapting quickly to the needs of the students.
