In the weeks after schools were shut down due to the pandemic in March 2020, we hired Casandra, along with a small handful of her fellow high school students, to co-design a paid summer internship program for her peers. From the beginning, Casandra was full of ideas for how we could make the program even more engaging and effective for her fellow students. In the midst of all the virtual meetings and planning, Casandra created a video (directing, animating, and editing) to capture what was happening. Casandra's video, along with her work as a co-designer of WorkWonder, was instrumental in our receiving an award for innovation from Fast Company. During the summer internship, Casandra grew comfortably into a leadership role as we managed 180 interns in the inaugural year of the virtual internship. Because of her invaluable contributions, we have kept Casandra on as a Co-Designer Intern as we expand the program in its second year. She continues to consistently collaborate and contribute, always bringing along her can-do attitude and willingness to adapt. And on top of it all, she's simply a joy to work with.
