It’s rare to find such a solid and well-rounded software developer like Carter. I had the pleasure of working closely with Carter for 8 months on the Omen Gaming Hub software at HP. Carter’s attention to detail and thorough communication made every collaboration feel painless and efficient. Past being an expert in the technical front, he is a master of being a mentor as well as listening to others’ needs. I have learned many lessons from him myself. Whether it be scoping out a new feature, grinding out bugs, or even being a good friend after a long day, I believe Carter would be an invaluable asset to any team.

Worked on client-side and web based features for the Windows desktop application, OMEN Gaming Hub. Following an Agile development methodology, I participated in daily stand ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. Also worked closely with designers and product owners to meet the needs and desires of customer feedback. Some major development efforts include: - Integrate a new NuGet package into the app and its shared applications - Served as a lead for multiple features to plan and scope work - Built new React based web page to be rendered inside the application Show less

Worked on multiple projects with a main focus on the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat). For these projects, the development applications were full stack, with a primary focus on Angular based front ends, NodeJS APIs, and Postgres databases. Worked closely with both USGS and external partners to ensure the applications met the needs of their respective stakeholders. Some of my accomplishments include: - Launched internal USGS application from scratch using Angular, NodeJS, and Postgres - Transferred entire non-relational database into a new relational schema using Python and PostgreSQL - Served as a lead developer for several applications, working with internal and external partners to implement new features, fix bugs, and work towards future project goals. - Use several AWS services to monitor application health and status Show less
