Rosa Barron

I was stuck in a rut until Carrie Ann began coaching me. After my third child, I was having trouble losing those last fifteen pounds and making lots of excuses for not exercising and eating right. My busy schedule, distance from the gym, breastfeeding, all were reasons not to limit my portions and get back into shope. When I saw Carrie Ann's success with Beachbody, I asked her to coach me. She is a compassionate but persistent coach whose gentle guidance and reminders make you want to please her. My weight loss success (back in my old jeans after a month) inspired me to also become a coach. She is as great a mentor as she is a coach. She inspires a desire to succeed in others that few people do, and has helped me and countless others do just that.

I have helped hundreds o f people lose between 5 and 85 lbs and keep it off! It's a lifestyle change that is sustainable. It's not a quick fix to get in the BEST shape of your life for the REST of your life. I currently have 45 coaches under me and have completed many Beachbody training sessions (Coach Basics, Rise to Emerald and Star Diamond in 60 days) so that I can be a great leader to my coaches. Lakeland Regional High School is an outstanding school that provides an exemplary, comprehensive education that develops all students to be knowledgeable, responsible citizens in a global environment. As Physics Teacher, I taught a brand new science program called Physics First, where the science department changed the order of sequence of science courses. 9th grade students took conceptual physics, the 10th grade studied biology, the 11th grade took chemistry, and those in 12th grade took a science elective of their choice. This is a new educational trend that is growing the average student into a critical world thinker. The new conceptual physics course focuses on problem solving skills and simple algebra and reasoning skills to discuss real world physics situations, from basic kinematics to waves, sound and light. This program lined up very well with my hands on teaching style, and helped me to further develop my skill in this area. I developed assessments, midterms, finals, and labs based on the skill level of 9th grade students to give them a solid foundation and introduction to science concepts. I incorporated long term projects that encouraged group collaboration. Students solved problems such as determining the speed of a car with simple devices, preventing an egg from cracking when dropped from two stories up, or keeping a marble in suspension for 60 seconds without contact. They presented their results in the form of videos recorded and uploaded onto a class website. I was also the Astronomy Club advisor where I lead discussion on topics generated by the students. I demonstrated how to observe stars with the naked eye, binoculars, and telescope, and how to identify constellations. Discussions also included planets and how the government funds research. Northern Valley-Demarest is a place where students, teachers, staff, administrators and parents work together to help our young people develop the skills necessary to excel in life beyond high school. In addition to providing a safe environment, the school encourages students to seek answers to questions, challenge assumptions and develop a strong sense of self-worth. As a teacher, I instructed College Prep and Essentials chemistry, including students of all learning levels (504, IE and ESL) from grades 9-12. I also facilitated traditional and computer aided laboratory investigation in both a single and double period schedule. I instructed students in Principles of Science, a collaborative conceptual chemistry and physics course, focused primarily on students of all learning levels (504, IEP, and ESL) from grades 10-12. I also taught College Prep Physics (algebra II/ trigonometry based) in 2003-2004. In addition, I continued to foster my love of coaching others to reach their goals and succeed in physical activity and sport. I served as Varsity and JV Cheerleading Coach 2004-2007. I coached stunting and gymnastics to Varsity and JV cheerleading, who qualified at UCA camp to perform at the Capitol One Citrus Bowl in Orlando FL in 2004 and 2005.
