In this role, I was challenged to guide a development team, both onshore and offshore, and provide direction and requirements so they could be successful. I relied heavily on people to help me understand the impacts of my decisions. Taking chances with what I knew and not being afraid to fail were two of the most important lessons I learned. When I failed, I tried to learn from the mistake and take that experience into consideration when faced with the next opportunity. I pushed our team to be Agile in their habits, reinforcing the concept of Good Enough and demonstrating through my actions that I stand behind what the team delivered and more importantly what they couldn’t deliver. I felt I could diplomatically deliver news that our clients may not have wanted to hear because of the relationships I have created with our business partners. I truly believe at the heart of all the work around being the center of our client's financial life, the company’s primary objective, is our data and our company's desire to be digitally savvy. The work I did to help my team clean up our client data will be reflected in every website we build and every piece of communication we send to our clients. I wanted my team to realize the importance of our work and that when we met our milestones, we were ensuring the company was able to provide the highest quality experience we could deliver. Because I was so passionate about the work I did and my team did, I often found myself having to tell someone we couldn’t support their request. My goal was to deliver this news in the most professional manner possible, backed up with knowledge I had about my team and what our business clients wanted. I continued to question decisions made by others to make sure I was in alignment with their thoughts.
