Expand my working scope as Head of Platform, Payments, Trust & Safety, Machine Learning Platform team. Lead and deliver the modernized services for Buyer Payments, Seller Payments, Trust & Safety and Checkout. Managed around 50 Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Product Managers, Data Scientist and Software Engineers.The Payments modernization is done during the COVID-19 and site traffic is dramatically lower compare to normal business and many other domain teams are also focus on modernization. We have used different design strategy compare to Identity for both moving faster and resolving some long term pain points purpose:1. ZERO adoption efforts design for Buyer Payments for taking traffic quickly by providing both new interfaces and back compatible interfaces in API level.2. Redesign some very legacy functions in Seller Payments with domain team adoption to greatly simplify the architecture design and decrease maintenance efforts in long term. Only provide new interfaces for such cases.3. Use one time data migration strategy to make the Cloud database as golden data for better performance.4. Dual-write data from Cloud to On-Prem to support legacy applications reading data directly from Oracle database.5. Some Microservices are written in Kotlin language which makes the code more shorter and maintenance efforts smaller in long term. Show less

Led the modernization work for Identity to transform its monolithic architecture to a cloud native architecture by redesigning and rewriting everything from scratch. Followed DDD(Domain-driven design) principle to work out Identity Bounded Context as the starting point. Delivered the first domain microservices with modern tech stack(Java, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform etc) running on the Cloud in whole Company and it became a reference by all of other domains for modernization implementation. This project is done during pre-Covid with normal business traffic. There are some design principles for this ‘replace wheels in a running car on highway’ project to assure no any business impact and taking traffic quickly:1. Launch smaller and launch faster in Prod.2. ZERO adoption efforts design to ensure fast iteration by providing both new interfaces and back compatible interfaces in API level.3. Use a lazy data migration strategy to gradually migrate data in On-Prem Database to Cloud Database to greatly improve performance. Leverage ETL job for the remaining history data migration in a batch mode.4. Use On-Prem as golden data first and gradually moving to Cloud Databases golden data.5. Use dual-write from Cloud to On-Prem and one-way data sync from On-Prem to Cloud to ensure data consistency and avoid over complex design.Architecture and lead the development of a modernized Machine Learning Platform supporting critical business use cases including Seat Quality, Pricing Guidance and Auto Pricing which contribute 7% of company GMS. Software development using Java, Spring, Python, GCP, Airflow, Cloud Run etc.Build team engineer DNA, simplify agile development process for the platform team. Led the team delivered many critical big projects across whole organization including: MazeRunner(Change Data Capture), Property Management, API Gateway 2.0, Batch Job Framework, Event Bus etc(Java, Spring, Kafka, ActiveMQ, WSO2, Oracle GoldenGate Manager etc).
