It was a pleasure to work with Carolyn at Congresswoman Speier's District Office, where I was an intern during the summer of 2009. As an intern, I was given a choice of caseworkers to shadow, and Carolyn immediately took me under her wing. Under Carolyn's guidance, I learned more at this internship than I've learned at any I've had since then. She struck the perfect balance between allowing me a supporting role in certain cases that were more difficult, while at the same time giving me more responsibility over easier cases so that I could build confidence and learn through real experience. She paid incredible attention to details that I sometimes missed, while still holding an exceptional grasp on the larger picture. While shadowing her in meetings with the actors in our immigration cases, I could not help but admire her ability to act as a comforting yet honest representative of the US government. Though it's been nearly four years since I've worked with her, I still consider Carolyn one of my most important role models. Her dedication to finding solutions to even the most complex problems, her exceptional people skills, and her ability to motivate those under her are just a few of the qualities that make Carolyn stand out from so many others I've worked with.

A consumate professional, Carolyn was incredibly dedicated to serving constituents needs as a caseworker for Congresswoman Speier. She produced the highest quality work that her colleagues learned from and demonstrated very thoughtful decision making and judgement. Her skills as legal counsel were in very high demand and she rose to every challenge. She was able to skillfully navigate the complexities of the Immigration process and worked productively with numerous Federal agencies to resolve difficult issues.
