Mike Marchewka
I reported to Carolyn in her role of Senior Vice President as the VP Sales Midwest at Lifetime Brands' Home Decor division from 2008 to 2013. In her position she functioned on many different levels and was outstanding in her execution within the company and with customers. As a supervisor, she provided excellent direction, both strategically and tactically. Always available as a sounding board, her counsel was instrumental in making and attaining my sales goals. Her expectations and the company's expectations as communicated through her were clear. She was the rare executive that managed both down and up very effectively. I very much appreciated her management style. Carolyn knew how to get the most out of my abilities by giving me a nice length of rope and then letting me do my job. She provided the direction and was there to assist whenever needed. Carolyn was unique in her ability to meet company objectives while being very customer relations focused. One of the things she told me early on was "if there is a problem, WE have a problem and will fix it together". Her objective was always moving the business forward versus assigning blame first. That was really important and encouraged me to challenge convention to meet our plan goals. Carolyn has tremendous product and industry knowledge, is extremely personable, and just knows how to get things done. She would be a great addition as a company president or sales executive.
