Penrith Selective High School caters for academically selective students in Years 7-12. The PDHPE role involved teaching across the mandatory courses in stages 4 and 5 along with elective courses such as PASS, 2 Unit PDHPE and SLR. I was responsible for the development of key course units across all years of study. Our programs focused on giving students the knowledge and skills required to develop lifelong health habits, to promote active lifestyles, to enhance personal development and wellbeing as well as to maximise movement potential through a range of fun, engaging and challenging practical activities. One of PDHPE’s biggest initiatives was the annual Walkathon which raised money to install air conditioning into every classroom at the school. I was a large part of the Duke of Edinburgh program at PHS along with taking countless Knockout teams, attending, organising and officiating at sports carnivals and the Dance program.
