  Cannings Purple is an award-winning strategic communications consultancy, providing communication advice and support to some of Australia’s leading organisations and government agencies. I was an owner and director of Cannings Purple (previously Purple Communications) until 2012, when I successfully negotiated the sale of my shares to global communication group, WPP. I then returned as an employee following maternity leave and have continued to act as a director, providing strategic council and support to clients seeking advice on internal communication and organisational change, corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement and issues and crisis management. During this time, my clients have included South32, Shell Australia, Minderoo Foundation, BGC Group, St John of God Health Care, DevelopmentWA, Citic Pacific and a number of private schools.

  After growing from a small team of four to become Western Australia's largest communications consultancy, Purple Communications joined the STW Group (now WPP - the world's largest communications group) in 2012, to become Cannings Purple.As part-owner and director of Purple Communications, I was responsible for the management of some of our biggest clients including BHP, Deloitte, Sinosteel Midwest Corporation, Apache Energy, East Perth Redevelopment Authority (now Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority) and P&N Bank.I consulted to BHP over a period of six years (much of the time as a full-time seconded team member), working on major projects including the proposed Western Australian Iron Ore joint venture with Rio Tinto and the Integrated Remote Operating Centre, as well as many other organisational and technology-driven change projects.

  I implemented BHP’s WA Iron Ore internal communications program in Newman and Perth, and provided the team strategic advice and support over a period of six years, largely in the areas of internal communication, change management and project management communication. I worked with the project management team for the proposed Western Australian iron ore merger with Rio Tinto in 2010 to manage the stakeholder engagement and internal communications program, and also led the change communication for a number of other significant projects for the company, including the development of their remote operating system (iROC).I also planned and managed BHP’s reception and tour for Chinese President, Hu Jintao at the Technology Centre in 2007.
