I completed a summer internship at the Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development in Wilkes-Barre, PA. While there, I conducted research on the longitudinal effect of redlining in Wilkes-Barre, PA on present day real-estate prices and neighborhood racial composition and assessed current infrastructure conditions in Reading, PA as part of Alvernia University’s initiative to revitalize the city. My responsibilities also involved collecting data from the United States Census Bureau in order to complete a tri-annual needs assessment on the Head-Start program in various PA counties; creating policy briefs on current economic, social, and political issues following the COVID-19 health pandemic; and analyzing survey data collected in reference to the effect the COVID-19 health pandemic has had on businesses throughout Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
