Caroline joined Burwell Architects in 2012 as a Project Architect and was made an Associate at the beginning of 2015. During her time with the practice, Caroline has led teams on both refurbishment and new build projects in the Commercial and Higher Education fields. Key specialist experience developed also includes working with existing, historic and listed buildings. Key Projects Include: London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine: Conference Centre Refurbishment of Grade II listed 1920’s Art Deco Board Room and Staff Common Room, including restoration of historic fabric and installation of new joinery, mechanical and electrical services and AV to create a new space for teaching, meeting and social events. Main Quad, University College London Remodelling of iconic and emblematic Grade I listed setting at the heart of UCL’s historic Bloomsbury campus to enable a wide range of activities to take place. Interactive Teaching and Learning Spaces, Imperial College London Refurbishment of three existing traditional (didactic) lecture theatres to provide new interactive and collaborative teaching and learning space. (2018 - 2020) Elsley House Office Refurbishment Refurbishment of a 1930’s office building for Great Portland Estates, including CAT A refurbishment of demised office space, external courtyards and terraces and communal areas. (2016 - 2018) Queens University Belfast: David Kier Student Hub A complex phased refurbishment of a series of large cohort auditoria and a new build social learning hub. (2012 – 2014) Plymouth University: Project Architect The House A new performing arts centre, with flexible teaching and public performance environments. The House provides a range of performance, technical and staff spaces, including a “white-box” theatre space, specialist music areas, and a new flexible 300 capacity auditorium. (2012 - 2014)
