Lizzy Mayer
Ms. Grinnell is a true advocate for families navigating the process of academic and neuropsychological evaluations for children. Thanks to her support and guidance, I felt like an educated and informed parent every step of the way. At every turn, Ms. Grinnell explained in clear terms the options that my child had and the rights that we had as parents. What I anticipated would be an incredibly intimidating negotiation with the school district became a supportive process that ended with my child receiving the academic accommodations he needs. This was due in large part to Ms. Grinnell walking me through what to expect before my son’s evaluation meeting: who would be there, how each component of each evaluation could be interpreted by the school staff, and what the possible determinations might be. As a result, I was able relax and listen with an open mind to the results during the meeting. I honestly can’t imagine having gone through this emotional process without her support. She is a truly gifted educator.

13 July 2022 To Whom it May Concern: I am writing this letter in strong recommendation of Caroline Grinnell. I have known and worked with Caroline for four years in her role as a learning support specialist, and I can say without hesitation that she is the kind of person who positively transforms the lives of her students. Whether English, French, or study skills, Caroline is a master teacher. In my nine years of English teaching, I have never seen anyone help their students grow academically as dramatically as Caroline does nor build their confidence in themselves. Caroline determines where her students are and meets them there; she tailors her curriculum and designs her units around each individual. Once Caroline determines a student’s abilities, she offers them a toolbox of skills, some skills which are curriculum oriented (e.g. writing and structuring essays) and some learning based (e.g. study strategies). She is a master teacher and knows the best research-oriented ways to differentiate, from color coded planners to poster-sized laminated sheets, from learning games to Google classroom resources. Her office is a treasure trove of materials that promote learning. Over the past four years, I have watched as students with learning profiles developed from shy students in the back of the classroom to the most enthusiastic students who want to read their essays out loud, becoming some of my strongest students. Perhaps most important, everything Caroline does is guided by her passion for learning . To her, teaching is a vocation to which she has dedicated her life. As an advocate for her students, she finds ways to challenge them in the safe space that she builds. \ She strives to act as a mirror for each student as though to say,
