Taking The Roundhouse Community Kitchen from its infancy to a team of 25 volunteers, 200 packaged meals a week to foodbanks and larders, recipe bags, build-your-own cookbooks and now a brand new cafe! Funded pilot project to help close the loop between food waste and food insecurity in Dundee. Looking forward to a greater focus on skills-building through in-person sessions, videos and more. Increasing confidence in cookery, making food and finances go further. I started up my little baking business after the realisation that I could make one of my passions (food) my work! At CLE, the focus was on cramming as much goodness into our cakes, bars, cookies and other offerings, and on cutting out refined or artificial ingredients. Always experimenting and expanding the product range, we traded at pop-up markets and other events, as well as delivering to private individuals and cafes. Clean Little Eats took a hiatus when I moved to New Zealand. Currently, I deal with all ordering, recipe development, production, branding, social media activity, accounts...and the rest! I find working alone pretty challenging - and somewhat lonely at times - and so I love to get out and speak to people about what I'm trying to achieve and what they're up to. Let's see where the path leads in 2018!

Supervisor

2011 - 2012
I started working here to bridge the gap between legal jobs. I'd noticed this new, independent bakeshop and café in Dundee and I pestered Ann to give me a job! Within 6 weeks of starting as a waitress, I was asked to be the sole supervisor, overseeing a kitchen and café floor team of up to six people. I created stock check systems, the weekly staffing rotas and began work on a café staff handbook. I cooked, baked, cleaned high, low and in between, handled cash and card payments, opened and closed the premises, motivated staff, helped to design marketing materials, and assisted with recruitment (advertising, filtering CVs, interviewing, selection and on-the-job training).I could wear what I liked, have good music on all day, drink great coffee and speak to loads of interesting people. Not bad really! I left after having my first little boy.
