Mike Pears OBE
Carol is a fantastic team member, but is also proven herself to be a very effective leader and manager. I have had the privilege of working with Carol on a number of internal operational and also external policy delivery review projects, as well as on a range of challenging casework. Time and time again her can-do and outcome orientated approach has enabled the teams she has been a member of, or indeed leading have achieved success, often in very challenging circumstances, and to punishing timescales. The success that she and her teams have achieved, in all cases is defined as improved outcomes for children (not simply administering a process, or cranking a handle). As a colleague and a professional she is highly thought of. I have no doubt that she will as her career progresses, go onto achieve even greater things.

Carol is simply superb! When she started work at CWDC her manager went on long term sick in her first week. Carol amazed us all by simply coming in, working out what needed doing, picking up and very complex reins and getting on with it. Not just that, but her work was of a really high quality too - infact it was all totally top notch. It was no surpose Carol got a promotion very quickly and again she excelled in her job. In addition to her specific role she also took on additional responsbilities which included working with people across the company, and including having to manage upwards. Again she was just simply superb. She got the job done, she made sure others did what they had to and she supported people who needed it (including more senior people). Carol is not just brilliant at her job but she is also realy easy to work with. Always good humoured and copes really well with stress and pressure. I cannot write more highly of her.

I have been privileged to work as Chief Executive Officer for Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) since April 2014 overseeing the Trust growth from a three school MAT to a Trust of 17 schools responsible for educating over 8000 children, employing more than 1350 staff and with a budget of around £60 million.During my time at BDAT I have also acted as a Director of the Leaf Academy Trust supporting the academy trust board through their rebrokerage in to Abbey Academies Trust. I am also a Trustee and Vice Chair of New Collaborative Learning Trust, a new sixth form Trust based in West Yorkshire.Much of my current work is around leading a fantastic central MAT team and group of Head teachers to build sustainable school improvement across our schools. Our Trust has been set up with the intention to remove administrative and operational burden from our academies allowing them to be great centres of teaching and learning. By working together as a family of schools our ambition is to ensure our pupils have a high quality education, get the results they deserve academically and get access to a broad range of life opportunities while they are at our academies.
