A Reference Letter July 9, 2013 Dear Sir or Madam, Mrs. Carol Logan began work in Lanzhou University of Technology from September 2010, so by the end of this semester she will have worked for our university for totally three years, which is amazingly long for a foreign teacher to work in one institution! During the time she has taught many courses for our BA English majors, non-English undergraduates and postgraduates of science and engineering. For example, she has taught oral English, English writing, British literature, American literature and English poetry to English major undergraduates; she has taught life skills (a new course) to many non-English majors. Whatever course she taught, she has always been very serious and professional. What impresses us most is her teaching of English writing. Teaching English writing is very time consuming because every week, you have to correct around 50 papers which is a headache for most English teachers. Yet she accepts the job every term and does her best to improve students’ writing level. Besides teaching work, she has always put forward many good suggestions about teaching management for the English department. Mrs. Carol Logan is a very fine teacher. She cares about students, but she cares more about teaching them her subjects. That means homework, lots of it, practicing oral speaking all the time with students and quizzes now and then to keep them focused on the lesson. Besides class teaching, Mrs. Carol Logan has been very cooperative with the teaching staff of the university. She is willing to accept many extra and emergent teaching tasks and has helped the English society of the university to hold English corners for three years. In daily life, Mrs. Carol is friendly and at ease with people. In fact, she has become a friend of the school of foreign languages and the community where she is living.
