Education Coordinator
-
Feb 2020 - Mar 2021
As an Educational Coordinator, I co-led a school of 170 students from K-Transition. I assured ISBE compliance in all matters, hired, trained, and supervised a teaching team of 17 teachers, collaborated with coordinators in other disciplines (support staff, clinical, expressive therapy) as well as consistently communicated with upper management and SEAL owners about issues that arose. As I led during the pandemic, I made sure students, teachers, and all other staff and community stakeholders were apprised of changes and were given the knowledge and materials to move forward. I assisted teachers and clinicians with IEP paperwork, including guidance on several district online programs, and led IEP meetings. I marketed our program to the surrounding districts, evaluated possible referrals for placement, and completed the intake for many new students. Show less

Special Educator/High School
-
May 2004 - Feb 2020
In this position I planned curriculum, prepared lessons and other instructional materials, provided direct instruction and communication with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, probation officers and other outside agencies/personnel. I therapeutically intervened in behavioral situations (including CPI), and utilized a team approach with other teachers and support personnel throughout the school environment. I created IEP’s and Transition Plans individually tailored to meet the needs of each student. I also guided students in self-assessment related to career options, taught an Adult Living course to all high school students, and a Vocational course to graduating seniors to prepare them for post-secondary schooling/careers. I have also organized events such as an annual Thanksgiving Feast for students and staff, High School Field Days, and Career Days. Show less
