Carmen is a gem. There is no other way to describe her. She is a knowledgeable, intrepid, dynamic, and independent business woman. Owning and establishing Trohv as a brand was a constant, plates-in-the-air, fire-tending, mole-whacking job. Carmen excelled at it, enjoyed it, and simultaneously managed to establish a brand grounded in her ideals. Those ideals manifested at Trohv as creativity, inclusion, fun, profit, community, whimsy, teamwork, hard work, celebration, and family. Carmen also managed to nurture a number of employees who were talented, young, budding artists, and sent them on their way into the world. I can't predict what is next for Carmen, but I can certainly say that she is more than an asset to anyone or any business with whom she is associated.

You rarely find an independent shop owner like Carmen that allows you to take on so much responsibility. This is one of the many reasons I loved working for her as store manager of Trohv for seven years. She honed in on staff strengths and allowed each of us to take ownership of the shop in our unique way. Because of Carmen, there was always a great sense of camaraderie among our small, but mighty staff. We all enjoyed working there and doing our part to make the store welcoming and inviting to all. Carmen always made me feel appreciated. Store and staff concerns were few and far between, but Carmen always took time to listen and give constructive feedback anytime a problem arose. It was important and meaningful for her and the store to collaborate and network with local artists, community organizations, and other retailers. She was always humbled and honored to mentor others, whether it was a staff member or a new business owner. Overall, she is a great leader and independent thinker that would be a great asset to any company or organization. A true joy!
