To Whom It May Concern: It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Ms. Carly Mallenbaum. Carly is not only an outstanding Schreyer Scholar she has also been an excellent intern in our College Relations office. Our coordinator of College Relations Chris Arbutina reports that Carly is the best intern we have ever had. She not only brings a tremendous work ethic, she has brought creativity and a dedication to produce a unique and professional product. I can also offer my first hand confirmation that she is the utmost professional and is outstanding in everything she does. Carly has also been an active member in our honors community. She has been a vice president of the Schreyer Honors College Student Council, a member of our Scholar Advancement Team (the first impression of the SHC and Penn State that many visiting students receive), the public relations chair, and vice president of the student council. With all of her activities within the college Carly has also been active in the community at large, exemplifying what it means to be a Schreyer Scholar. With that having been said, I would like to put Carly’s accomplishments into some context. The Schreyer Honors College was established at Penn State to provide students of high academic talent and motivation the opportunity to reach their full academic potential. The average SAT score upon entry is about 1430 and the GPA is 4.0. Approximately 2% of PSU’s 70,000 undergraduates are members of the Schreyer Honors College. In addition, the mission of the Schreyer Honors College is unique in that we emphasize the development of an international perspective, leadership skills, and community engagement along with traditional academic subject matter at an accelerated and more advanced level. Carly exemplifies what it means to be a Schreyer Scholar and is superb in all respects. In addition to all her activities Carly has maintained a rigorous academic schedule and maintained an extremely strong GPA. She is an outstanding student and person who brings tremendous energy and ability to any task that she is given. I offer you my strongest support for Carly. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
