MICA Health was founded to provide clinical data management solutions to large ambulatory physician networks. As one of two company founders, I was primarily responsible for managing development of our web-based EMR archive product and leading our technical services team. We were the leading provider of clinical archive and data migration services for a fortune 500 healthcare company and performed hundreds of successful archive and migration projects from dozens of source clinical systems. I had a very hands-on day to day role in conversion projects, primarily in the discovery and development phase and as such, I developed deep expertise in mining clinical data from a variety of relational and hierarchical database platforms. Our software solution was provided as either a hardware appliance on Dell OEM servers or a Microsoft Azure hosted SaaS product. I was responsible for architecting and deploying both solutions. Prior to our acquisition by Trinisys in late 2017, we had approximately 60 unique nodes of our solution deployed housing several hundred archived EMR instances. Show less

Carsan, Inc. was an operating framework I used for multiple contracting and consulting engagements prior to forming MICA Health. Some of the more interesting projects I worked on were in the area of intellectual property defense where I partnered with an expert witness to build point in time recreations of computing platforms using vintage hardware, software and networking infrastructure to validate the functionality of applications and technologies from the late 80s and early 90s. I also became deeply involved with electronic medical records systems at this time. My early experience primarily involved remediation of sub-optimal implementations that faced significant infrastructure and data management issues that were contributing to provider rejection of the technology. I developed deep expertise in HL7 interface implementations and as my familiarity with the underlying database structures grew, I became highly involved in healthcare specific business intelligence, providing many insights into system utilization, patient condition trends, ordering behavior and medication prescribing patterns. I was involved with large scale product roll outs for private physician groups and well known academic medical centers and began the early work in system to system data migrations and archiving that would provide the foundation for MICA Health. For a time, I served as a contract Director of Technical Services for a software company whose platform provided billing data aggregation and coding workflow to hospital emergency departments. During this engagement I was able to substantially alter their provisioning of many services by migrating from a thick client framework to a SaaS model where clients were able to access their instances from centrally and securely hosted virtual servers. This greatly improved overall user satisfaction with the platform and substantially reduced support costs. Show less

At Sterling, I was responsible for executing the vision of our CIO and ensuring that our corporate information systems provided a stable and reliable platform for our company's operational success. In addition to managing our primary data center, support personnel and suite of applications, I helped integrate the assets of other organizations acquired through M&A activity and I oversaw Windows Active Directory / Exchange migrations and upgrades. This role was split 60/40 between managerial and hands-on technical duties. Show less
