Bringing a unique lens as a local community organizer, I focused on finding an intersection between political opportunity and relevant issues facing families. -Founded the first Southeast Los Angeles (SELA) parent leader team (PLT), which includes 30 community leaders with a network of hundreds of families. Led local organizing of SELA leaders on local and statewide education campaigns. Held over 1000 1-on-1 meetings with SELA parents and community members. Led over 90 bi-weekly SELA PLT meetings, over 60 research meetings with policy makers and experts, 2 press conferences, and 3 local actions with over 350 community members in attendance. Collective organizing efforts led to the first SELA Regional Tutoring Initiative which included $250,000 of funding towards quality 1-on-1 tutoring for 250 students in the region, with current talks of refunding and scaling by Huntington Park and South Gate.-Led LAUSD-wide organizing campaign focused on increasing quality tutoring provided by LAUSD. Collective organizing efforts led to a research meeting with Superintendent Alberto Carvalho, an upcoming public event, and an increase in prioritization of tutoring by LAUSD.
