Venprecar was a manufacturer of approximately 2.2 million tonnes of hot briquette iron (HBI) which is a scrap substitute. Venprecar and its subsidiary, Orinoco Iron, were in the process of restructuring its indebtedness during 2003-2007. The process was hampered by various governmental actions, including but not limited to, significantly increasing the underlying contract price of iron ore and the lack of delivery of the required quantities of iron ore. The restructuring process was very complex and involved five jurisdictions. The role consists of all of the typical CFO roles including, but not limited to (i) financial statement preparation, (ii) administration of financing agreements, (iii) relationship with international lenders, (iv) budget development and control, (v) development of financial and equity transactions which improves the economic result of the companies, (vi) structuring of transactions involving international players (world class companies) and (vii) the financial restructuring of Venprecar and its subsidiaries. Due to the environment, including the fundamental shift in operating economics, which Venprecar has been operating in, it was necessary to continue rethinking strategies and deal with operational and economical issues on an almost daily basis. This has resulted in the development of my ability to react quickly to the unexpected and quickly develop and implement corrective courses of action. Show less

Sivensa (100% shareholder of Siderúrgica del Turbio C.A. or “Sidetur”) is a steel long products manufacturer. Sivensa annual rated capacity is 835,000 metric tonnes of products at the steel mills; 615,000 metric tonnes of laminated products and 67,000 metric tonnes of electro-welded products. Sivensa’s activities range from the gathering and processing of ferrous scrap to the production of finished steel products for the construction industry and millwork. While I held this position, Sivensa and its subsidiaries (Sidetur, Vicson, Dana and IBH) went through a strategic reorganization that involved a recognized international management consulting firm. My role required: (i) developing the scope of the review, (ii) negotiating the cost of the review, (iii) managing the process (iv) assessment of the review and (v) the implementation of the findings of the review. The purpose of this process was an evaluation and development of a Corporate Business Strategy which involved all the Sivensa subsidiaries at the light of the expected business environment.
