Occupational Therapist
-
Nov 2022 - Present
In my role as an occupational therapist in an inpatient rehabilitation setting, I evaluate and treat patients regarding ADLs, IADLs, functional mobility, and underlying skills associated with these tasks. I see a wide variety of patients experiencing diagnoses including stroke, traumatic brain injury, fractures, COVID-19, spinal cord injury, joint replacement, amputation, and sepsis. I identify functional goals through collaboration with the patient, their loved ones, and the care team (nurses, physical and speech therapists, physicians, and case managers) while determining the best therapeutic approaches to promote the patient's participation in valued and necessary occupations. Daily duties include intervention planning, completion of evaluations, leading treatment sessions, family training, patient education, discharge planning, team conferences, documentation, and billing for a full caseload of patients (4-9 patients per day).
