Site responsibility for the manufacture, quality and design of rainwater management systems and products. Reporting to the General Manager, I led all production activities and resources to meet the needs of a demanding customer base, this included an aluminum foundry, fabrication & welding operations, two paint lines - powder coat and solvent based, a design and configurations group, and the facilities and equipment maintenance team. Manufacturing included medium volume aluminum gravity castings, bespoke ‘design-to-order’ fabricated products, to a customised finish with over 270 colour & finish variants.

Site Operations Manager - Caterpillar Propulsion Production

I led all production activities and associated support groups for Caterpillar Marine Propulsion Products, covering production, operational logistics, quality and technical services for new sales, aftermarket and global control systems.Manufacturing included highly complex machining processes for predominantly ‘engineer-to-order’ product range, and aftermarket parts manufacture includes product refurbishment and global parts distribution. I was additionally, responsible for building and facilities maintenance, security and EHS for three sites in Sweden.I delivered year-on-year improvements in operational performance metrics and financial results through process excellence, organisational redesign and resource prioritisation, leading a team of 70.

European Lean and CPS Coach

As a Lean subject-matter expert, I supported European Manufacturing facilities to deliver strategic objectives through continuous improvement methodology and lean principles, and advised on effective, consistent deployment of Caterpillar Production System (CPS) in manufacturing, supply chain and associated support functions.Major projects include the manufacturing integration of a marine acquisition in Sweden and Singapore and a high profile Engineered Value Chain project across the global manufacturing footprint for the Medium Engines business.

Leading all people, quality, velocity and cost deliverables for this industrial diesel engine manufacturer, I oversaw two product platforms with 600 production and support staff, producing 120,000 diesel engines per annum across multiple shifts with >700 finished engine variants.Led the development, planning and execution of continuous improvement activities ensuring alignment to the overall Medium Engines business strategy through the deployment of the Caterpillar Production System.

I held full P&L and operational accountability for Small Engine business, managing a 120-strong workforce across production (assembly, test & finish), quality, maintenance, supply chain, operational logistics and manufacturing engineering.Establishing the company’s first engine production facility in China, I had a lead role in this major initiative from breaking ground to facility opening with first customer engines delivered within six weeks of start-up.
