• Investigated the use of magnetic field sensors, external to a Hall Effect Thruster (HET), as a means for mapping the Hall current within the thruster channel to predict real-time thrust.• Designed and constructed an automated 2 axis probe automated scanning to obtain a planar map of a magnetic field contour within a Hall thruster channel. • Constructed double hanging pendulum thrust stand capable of 1.0 mN accuracy for steady state thruster applications. • Constructed and programed testing equipment system (mass flow controller, pressure gauge, thermocouple, power supply interface) to control and monitor 1000 hour life test of reservoir hollow cathode. System was capable of running unmonitored around the clock and mitigating any faults or system errors encountered during testing.• Researched, developed, and tested 1.5kW and 300W Hall effect thrusters utilizing internal and external cathode designs operating on Krypton and Xenon.

* Designed and developed an optical laser measurementsystem for detecting the micro-newton force exerted by an electric field plasmaactuator.* Used millimeter scale plasma thrusters in a pulsed manner to inject high velocity flow into the boundary layer flow over an airfoil. When used at high angle of attack these actuators can delay stall by 1-2 degrees allowing for improved performance. - Constructed fiber glass airfoils and performed wind tunnel tests. - Modified tunnel measurement systems to acquire data for validation.
