Carey Lawry is a multitalented professional, greatly skilled in process and talent management, corporate and employee communications, and event coordination. Carey not only manages talent but also orchestrates careers. She has this sixth sense, which combined with her knowledge of operations and project management, allows her to invariably cast the right talent. Carey's contributions were essential to the success of so many projects. She is someone who looks to match talent with opportunity, and has positively impacted my career as well as the careers of so many people. I wholeheartedly recommend Carey.

I've had the privilege and pleasure to apply my background in a number of ways at Friends of Trees. In my role within talent and program operations, I put the employee and volunteer experience first. I support professional growth for staff at all stages of their career, increase software ROI by designing and delivering fun, accessible learning resources, and foster a safe and fun company culture while ensuring program goals are met.Communication and collaboration are crucial in my unique position. With change seeming to be a constant part of organizational operations, it's my job to thoughtfully craft and connect diverse audiences to critical information. Bite-sized video tutorials, job aids, ILTs, or facilitating reflective conversations are just a few methods I use to transfer learning into application. As much as I like to hit the bullseye each time, it's just not realistic. That said, I'm fortunate to be at an organization that values feedback as much as Friends of Trees. Part of what makes me most effective is honoring the cycle of feedback, but not letting it spin in place for too long. Asking the tough questions and giving ideas space to breathe facilitates a feedback cycle that not only moves--but moves in the right direction.

My time at Digitas came with some wins and lessons. The wins? I’m proud of my work with the Talent Mobility program where I partnered closely with HR & Resource Managers worldwide to mobilize ~30 staff through 3 cycles of reductions. I’m also proud of my ability to support the onboarding and operations of a 100+ freelancer roster while maintaining a very tight budget for the region. But looking back, my biggest takeaways came from this simple lesson:Ask questions early and often. I apply this lesson for myself and also to how I approach employee training. I recognize that everyone comes with their own unique experiences and absorbs information differently. By not relying on a single method or answer, I’m always interested in finding new ways to deliver information and meet individuals where they’re at.
