Carey worked with me while she volunteered at Big Brothers Big Sisters. She took on the role of mentor for a young woman in High School, who was working towards a full scholarship to college. Carey's role was to be a role model and offer advice regarding academics and career path(s) for her mentee. They were tasked with meeting at least once a month and updating their case manager with details of their outings and conversations. Carey proved herself to be attentive and passionate, taking the lessons she learned raising her own kids and applying them to being a mentor and friend to a child in need. I was impressed with how proactive and dedicated she was in that role as a 'Big Sister'. I was happy to see her come through the program. She definitely made an impact.
