Founder & CEO

Nov 2011 - Mar 2015
Founded The Kiltwalk in 2011, organising fundraising walking events at locations across Scotland to raise money for children’s charities. After a year developing it in my spare time I left my career in financial services to focus fully on establishing The Kiltwalk as a valuable national charity. Starting with a £2k loan, success was founded on the collaboration of leading children’s charities, getting high-level media and business partners on board, but most importantly cultivating a brand and a cause that a large community still follows passionately. • Participant growth from 1,500 to 12,000 in 3 years • Total annual income from £450k to £2.5m • Distributed profit of £2.4m to over 150 charities and causes in 3 years • Passed on 68.5% of donations to our charity partners • Created and developed a national brand, cause and customer community • Built a sustainable business model, solid operational processes and created 14 full time jobs • Media & Corporate partners such as Media Scotland, Bauer, Sunday Post, RBS & Chivas • Charity sector (SCVO) award-winner and Scottish Edge winner
