Gary Dugmore
Caren worked with me on the rather difficult task of reorganising the way the BBC accounted for its programme spend. She had to show great fortitude and powers of persuasion in 'selling' the solution to areas of the business, especially to Drama production, that were used to going their own way and having their own resource to do it with. Since taking on this role I have successfully worked with the Head of Production and put in processes to ensure accurate forecasting going forward. I have produced reports which are now used by the team in Cardiff and the management team in Multiplatform so that finance is managed more effectively. I worked closely with the Production teams, as all forecasting was offline and not feeding into accounts to ensure that forecasts are robust and accurate on the system to ensure month end accounts are accurate.• I successfully worked on a project involving writers advance payments. The process which was in place meant that cash was a big issue so I made a decision to manage all advance payments centrally and maintain a forecast going forward to alleviate any cash issues.• I work closely with the Business Accounts team in Cardiff and have designed forecasting tools which are used by the Business Accountant to ensure accurate and robust forecasting of cash. I also designed reporting tools to enable the Finance Partner to review the accounts easily.• I worked on the Funding Model for Drama and pan Vision to understand the complexities of it. I reconciled the funding model to accounts in 2006/7 when the funding model was created and highlighted and corrected any errors found. Success of this is measured by extra cash being available in the Business for errors in the model. Show less

Many of the embedded teams were being made redundant so had to use influencing & persuading skills to ensure a smooth transition to ensure that knowledge was transferred. After six months I was given the responsibility of compiling & checking three other profit centre groups which fed into Drama Production. I was the key contact with Group & DEC HQ & responsible for compiling & the commentary for the whole Drama pack.• Drama had little understanding of Results Analysis & the way in which projects were forecast when I started. I was responsible for ensuring that accurate forecasts were input & maintained by Production Accountants to enable Results Analysis to run efficiently. I worked with the SAP team to ensure that projects were set up correctly & maintained going forward. This enabled correct calculation of WIP, Accruals & loss provisions going forward & therefore more accurate accounts.• I introduced formal closure processes of projects with Production Accountants & Production Executives. This ensured that projects were accounted for correctly & any accruals were highlighted.• I produced forecasting tools for cash & internal spend so that it was easier to forecast & less time consuming.
