  After careful consideration I have decided my skillset and profile is not the best fit for the role given 1) the different accounting framework (OHADA) versus my background of IFRS, 2) different tax legislation landscape versus my background in mostly South African tax law and 3) a language barrier with the onsite team first language and mining and tax laws being primarily French.Alternative roles were explored within the Glencore Copper Africa division following my decision, however with my long term career hat on I have concluded none of the roles discussed would be aligned with my long term career objectives and vision. I therefore thought it best to rather explore the market for suitable roles where I can hopefully add value for all stakeholders.

  Career highlights:• Member of the team that developed and operated a world class greenfield manganese asset;• Member of the team that ramped up the Tshipi asset to become the largest exporter of manganese ore from South Africa;• Member of the IPO team for Jupiter Mines Limited, flagged as the biggest IPO in the 2018 decade on the ASX;• Responsible for setting up the Jupiter Marketing Branch in South Africa with Tshipi being responsible for the back office function;• Successfully lead the negotiation and conclusion of a R7 billion rail contract with Transnet;• Successfully lead the negotiation and conclusion of a R4 billion mining contract with a five-year term;• Successfully lead the negotiation and conclusion of a barrier pillar agreement, to mine a common piece of land, between Tshipi and the South32 Mammatwan mine;• Successfully lead the negotiation and conclusion of a pioneered solution to move manganese from South Africa to Luderitz for the export market with a contract value of R6bn over a 10 year period;• Successfully lead the conclusion of a ramp up study to potentially increase Tshipi annual export volumes to 4.5mt;• Identified and implemented short to medium term business initiatives to reduce the cost base with in excess of 20%;• Secured funding facilitates with a reputable financial institution in a very difficult commodity market.• Establishment of a capital project and fully operational finance function, which included the development of the ERP system (SAGE X3), implementation of a sound control environment, recruitment of the capital project and operational staff compliment, development of job profiles and work flows, design and implementation of management and other monthly reports including board reports, policies and procedures;
