The first time I met Cara was at a workshop with a consultant we hired. Cara started work with us the day prior to the workshop and we had barely exchanged pleasantries when she pulled out a notebook full of questions she had written after her first day of work. I first met Cara Sherwood several years ago when she was accepted to the New York East Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY), a three-day leadership development seminar designed to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. Cara more than exemplifies these qualities. As the staff leader, I was immediately struck that Cara's enthusiasm, natural leadership ability and compassion for others made her stand out from her peers. Since graduating from the HOBY program, Cara has volunteered year-after-year since to ensure others not only have the opportunity that she had, but also to help them make a positive difference in their communities. After several years of involvement, she lead eventually led the entire seminar to a banner year. Under Cara's leadership, the New York East Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar received national recognition as a top leadership seminar for youth. Cara is a bright, energetic, starlit beacon of enthusiasm who brightens even the darkest of rooms. If I could think of one quality to sum up Cara's personality, it’s that she approaches and solves every problem with a smile. I couldn’t recommend a better person to have a colleague.

Experience soliciting donations, gift in kind donations and running fundraiser events. Created 2010 Program Book.
