In this position, I facilitate clear communications and sustainable change for the B-cycle initiative, aimed at keeping batteries out of landfill, so less toxic materials end up in our ecosystem. By ensuring the design and deployment of communications and education strategies, I aim to create a paradigm shift to a circular economy for batteries - helping to safeguard the environment and Australia's resource and energy security. In this position, I provided services as global communication lead for UNESCO's Section of Health and Education. To drive positive public awareness and build momentum for change among Governments and other stakeholders, I oversaw the delivery of strategic communications. Furthermore, I supported UNESCO's strategy to build resilient, health-promoting education systems through the creation of major advocacy campaigns, multi-media materials, publications, media, and editorials. The achievements from this role include the following: - Created a global advocacy campaign on comprehensive sexuality education, "Foundation of Life & Love", to counter misunderstanding around comprehensive sexuality education, featuring multi-media stories and interviews from Ghana, Chile, China, Bangkok, and the United Kingdom. - Led communications for the first "International day against violence and bullying at school including cyberbullying”, including the hosting of an International Conference together with the Government of France, attracting a virtual audience of 46,000 people. - Raised the political profile of education and health at global events through communications, such as the “Generation Equality Forum”, the “Transforming Education Pre-Summit”, and “Switched on: Sexuality education in the digital space”. - Oversaw the production of publications including the "Revised International technical guidance on sexuality education: an evidence-informed approach”, downloaded more than 360,000 times and available in 12 languages, and "Behind the Numbers: Ending School Violence and Bullying", viewed more than 40,000 times. During this tenure, I performed duties as a global communications lead for the Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) which was aimed at raising the political profile of education and generating additional funding through sustained advocacy. Moreover, I created communications that rallied a broad spectrum of actors for the final push towards the 2015 adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. I spearheaded outreach materials including short films, infographics, and animations in accordance with GEFI's three priority areas of access to education, quality education, and global citizenship education. A small selection of the key values I was responsible for during this role includes: - Managed strategic communications and advocacy for major events, including GEFI’s education advocacy ‎event at the 2014 and 2015 UN General Assembly, with Heads of State, First Lady of the United ‎States, Michelle Obama, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates; the 2015 World Education Forum and the ‎UNESCO Global Education and Skills Forum.‎ - Coordinated advocacy content for social media platforms. Over 3,150 people actively participated on social ‎media for GEFI’s annual event (2014) at UN headquarters, generating 5,200 social media posts and ‎reaching more than 18 million people through digital channels.‎ - Developed and wrote speeches and forewords for high-level UN representatives, including United Nations ‎Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova.‎ Show less
