      Supervised the deck crew aboard SPIRIT OF ‘98, a 40 cabin, 192 ft. cruise ship operating on the Columbia and Snake rivers from Portland, OR to Clarkston, WA on the Idaho boarder. The route follows the path of Louis and Clark and guest speakers point out sites along the way. The cruise runs one week and covers nearly 1000 miles round trip with over 700 feet of elevation rise through 8 locks. The ship carries a maximum of 96 guests and about 30 crew.       Operation and maintenance of the Motor Yacht SAFARI for personal use, professional entertainment and voluntary contribution to church non-profit groups. Navigated waters of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, especially areas around Chicago with excursions to New Buffalo, Holland and Kenosha. Entertained groups up to 20 people during events and holidays such as July 3 fireworks, Air and Water Show, Venetian Night, Tall Ships Challenge and the Mac Race. Performed all maintenance and engineering duties including equipment replacement and upgrades; rebuilt Ideal windless, replaced heat exchangers and turbochargers on both DD 6-71 JTs, installed new navigation, VHS, audio and video electronics; upgraded auto pilot to NMEA 0183 and wired to laptop based navigation system, converted house water pump from 115V to12VDC, installed new Xantrex 3000 Inverter/Charger and Charles charger, rewired circuit panel to segment inverter loads, installed and wired new shore power switching to accommodate 240V/50A and 120V/50A inputs from port, starboard, and cable master sources (6 cable input sources plus genset), replaced all 25 through hull fittings with stainless steel and new hose, striped and refinished all exterior bright work, rebuilt teak swim platform, replaced venturi windshield; routine oil changes and general maintenance.
