My main function is the management of Oil Major related issues for the assigned fleet of vessels in an efficient and timely manner and in compliance with OCIMF & standard industry recommendations and Oil Major’s expectations.My key responsibilities are as below:• Responsible for coordination, monitoring and closing out of vetting observations fleet wide• Review and follow-up on responses prepared by Vetting & Tank Ops• Review and follow-up and close-out of pre-vetting inspections• Utilize Statistics with Vessel Management for ensuring continual improvement of the vetting performance• To visit vessels directed for SIRE and other inspections• To closely communicate with shipboard management in order to provide them maximum support from shore along with Vessel Manager before, during and after a vetting inspection. • To closely communicate with Vetting & Tank Ops regarding vessels readiness for inspection• Provide Head of Vetting & Tank Ops appropriate feedback to fulfill customer related obligations• To work in close cooperation with HSSE & Vessel Support for close out of vetting observations• Participate in the implementation of development of various projects such as (but not limited to) QMS improvement, TMSA improvement, Oil Major office audit etc. • To conduct Vetting Training Course and to upgrade its content on a regular basis.• To conduct briefing and debriefing of the senior ship board staff as well as their appraisal• To conduct interview for the ship board officers on promotion• To conduct incident investigation when required and report to oil majors on a proactive manner• To follow up and close the port state inspection observations and also reporting proactively to various oil majors on PSC follow up Show less

I was working with FML as Marine Superintendent in Quality and Safety department. My role included the responsibility to ensure that the vessels are in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory bodies, that company policies and procedures were being followed and to monitor and support all vessels on marine and operational issues.My role was also to ensure vessels’ compliance with all International marine requirements and liaise with the vessels in safety and health, quality, security and environmental matters. The department as a whole had been assigned to assure compliance with the ISM Code and the company’s SMS . This included performing regular ship visits for ISM and ISPS Internal audits and preparation of vessel for external audits; aim was to achieve zero LTA and to ensure compliance with all HSE regulatory requirements at all times, report all non-conformities to the management and ensure effective corrective and preventive action is implemented and recorded; I was also involved in near miss analysis and investigation into accidents and prepare the incidents report for all injuries/incidents ,making sure the root cause of the incident is addressed and to coordinate with relevant authorities for follow up action. I was also involved in providing regular training to the crew and senior officers onboard on effective safety practices and standards. My duties also included arranging for the external audit on vessels to meet international requirements.I had been also involved in preparing the vessels for MLC audit, as required by MLC 2006. I was selected by the Shipping Corporation of India for their Trainee Navigating Officer Cadet program . Was awarded certificate of merit for securing third rank in the batch as well as Senior Cadet Captain.After doing a 3 months pre-sea training , I completed my onboard training on 3 ships , a chemical tanker , an oil tanker and a general cargo ship.After passing the competency exam , I was granted the 2nd Mate (FG) COC . I was selected by the Shipping Corporation of India for their Trainee Navigating Officer Cadet program .
