The NEIL project (Neuro Enhancement for Independent Lives) was established in 2011 to collect comprehensive data from a large group of older adults to look at factors that may influence cognitive performance and the factors that may contribute to cognitive decline as we get older. The directors of the study include Professor Ian Robertson, Dr. Sabina Brennan and Professor Brian Lawlor alongside Caoimhe Hannigan as the study manager. My role in the project will be to test the older participants by administering psychological tests such as the MMSE and WMS as well as carrying out EEG's. Show less

I worked with a little boy with Downs Syndrome, helping him with his development. This involved working alongside a multidisciplinary team including physiotherapists, speech therapists and special needs assistants. My job was to help him with various aspects of his development in a way that was productive but fun. I worked with a little boy with Downs Syndrome, helping him with his development. During the summer between my first and second year of my undergraduate, I spent three months working in Newport in Rhode Island, America. I worked both as a banquets waitress in the Newport Hotel and Marina and I also worked in the Gas Lamp Grille restaurant. My responsibilities included; setting up conference rooms to clients specifications, making note of any food allergies and double checking the food before serving it, dealing with the demands of a busy hotel and restaurant, making sure the events ran smoothly and any extra needs were catered for. I was also responsible for organising specific roles with other co-workers to ensure the job was done efficiently. Show less
