Candy is a strong team player, very passionate about nature and keeps herself educated about nature and conservation. I found her to be an all rounder throughout our experience as Canadian conservation corps. She will be a great asset to any group she works with.

Aquatics, Wildlife and Marine - Conduct fish salvage, bird nest survey, and amphibian salvage for various projects across BC and Alberta. - Collect TSS samples and conduct water quality monitoring in fish bearing streams during in-stream constructions and beaver dam removals. - Advise construction crews and clients as a Qualified Aquatics Environmental Specialist for SARA streams. - Performed stream classification assessments with the focus to determine fish presence/absence in the streams and wetlands through electrofishing and minnow trapping. High value fish habitats were identified and recommendations on crossing methods were made to the client. - Observe for marine mammals in the vicinity of pile driving activities and deployed preventative measures to mitigate construction impacts. - Installed wildlife cameras by access controls to monitor the effectiveness of such methods for access management. Vegetation and Wetlands - Identify Blue- and Red-listed upland and wetland ecological communities within various biogeoclimatic zones by collecting ecological and biological data such as species presence and richness, species composition and dominance, soil profile, slope, aspect, stage of succession, and biotic and abiotic disturbance across BC. - Establish vegetation monitoring plots and conducted vegetation surveys to assess the long-term performance and effectiveness of habitat restoration and offset measures. Documented height, percent cover, vigour, and vegetation composition of vascular and nonvascular species. - Assessed the effectiveness of line-of-sight breaks in obstructing predators’ views of preys by evaluating spatial distribution, height, and percent cover of live woody stems. Identified the cause of underperforming measures and recommended corrective actions.
