Candy is a professional archaeologist with over 15 years experience of commercial archaeology throughout the UK. Since 2002 she has worked as a Project Director for a number of Edinburgh based commercial practices and has had experience of working with all types of heritage across Scotland. She is currently the principal consultant for WA Heritage, the heritage team within Wessex Archaeology Ltd. She leads the terrestrial team in their Edinburgh office on a wide variety of consultancy and fieldwork projects including EIAs for major on and offshore windfarm and infrastructure projects, archaeological fieldwork projects, historic building and monument surveys, terrestrial geophysics and community and education programmes.

As a Senior Archaeologist at Headland Archaeology Ltd Candy specialised in directing and assisting with the co-ordination of the archaeological programmes for large-scale developments. She had extensive experience of directing large-scale archaeological excavations, evaluations and monitoring programmes in both rural and urban environments. These programmes included a suite of techniques including field walking and walkover surveys; topographic and landscape surveys; historic building assessment and recording and environmental sampling. Candy has been involved in major road schemes in Scotland including the M74 Competition Project, the M80 extension and the A78 bypass. She has also worked on numerous other large-scale developments throughout Scotland including housing, aggregates, pipelines and train/tram routes. This work has often included assisting with the co-ordination of post-excavation strategy and specialists, reporting and publication.
