In my current position I am part of the conflicts resolutions team; performing a vital role in the busy risk management department at DLA Piper Sheffield. As part of the Client Intake Service I help assist in both the identification of potential conflicts and in the resolution of the relevant conflicts. I have experience in both the two conflicts roles available at DLA, search and resolution. In the conflicts search team I was responsible to searching new matters and analysing our database to produce a concise report of the potential issues. I have now progressed to working in the resolution team, where I am responsible for the DLA affiliate firm, DLA Nordic, I conflict search all new work for the Nordic office, and resolve all highlighted conflicts and arrange for legal waivers to be obtained where necessary. As part of my role I assist lawyers in both the international firm and our affiliated US offices in obtaining waivers for US conflicts and liaise with the Fee earners and support staff to ensure that the conflicts process is transparent and efficient. I am often asked to perform urgent tasks for lawyers all around the world, and I am expected to complete a large number of conflicts checks to tight deadlines, to ensure a high level of service and maintain our Service Level Agreement. I have also supported other members of the team and performed a supervisory role and provided staff training on an ad hoc basis to cover staff absences and support my senior at busy times.

In my previous role I was a member of the licensing team, working on personal and premises licences for a range of clients in the entertainment and leisure industry. Attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and accurately are essential skills I developed in this role. Working with demanding Clients has provided me with a platform to develop my client care skills, I am able to provide a professional response to queries and provide advice as required. Working as a close team, I provided flexible support across all areas of licensing reacting to the client’s needs on a day to day basis. Working in a small firm with national credentials allowed me to gain access to large clients first hand and gain experience. I have completed my ALPH Award for Personal Licence Holders; an industry qualification, this insight into the licensing authorities’ expectations was essential to my role and valuable information to carry forwards.

    • Sales Administrator
      • Jun 2010 - Apr 2011

In this varied role, inside a fasted paced business, my responsibilities ranged from Hotel bookings and transport arrangements to customer enquiries and product research, I explored potential customers and developed a large customer base, building up new contacts from around the world. This role required a quick response and a meticulous attention to detail, as large sums of money are involved and sensitive information. Working in this role provided me with invaluable experience, working with a range of computer software, data bases and equipment. 2008 - 2010 - Formkraft Distribution Ltd, Eco-Telesales Advisor.

      • Jun 2008 - Jan 2010

At this time I worked as part of team providing consumable solutions to the retail industry, I focused on the sale of eco friendly products, mainly for promotional use. I received training on the processes and background of these products. I had to communicate within a team and effectively manage my time, being proactive to achieve my goals. Working for an employer with a strong business social responsibility is important to me, and is something that I have taken away from this role.
