Followed my passion, to make a positive impact using ICT across Africa, in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our focus areas were Technology For Good, ensuring Corporate Responsibility and reducing the collective carbon footprint of our operations. Under Technology For Good our key projects in Africa were Connect To learn (education), Mobile Money (financial inclusion and development) and Millennium Villages (connectivity). Under carbon footprint reduction we covered e-waste programmes, office energy efficiency and telecom sites running on hybrid / alternate energy. I represented Sustainability function at the regional level and was responsible for innovation, impact reporting, proposals, budget, risk and program management within the function, working closely with Strategy, Marketing, Communications, the Customer Accounts and Finance teams. Specifically for South Africa I was also part of the BBBEE committee, promoting opportunities, learnerships and supply chain development for previously disadvantaged youth.

I was Ericsson's Technology For Good Programme manager across 23 countries in the Middle East. Our focus was on innovatively bringing connectivity to rural, underserved areas; bringing educational services to those areas; bringing Mobile money solutions and financial inclusion as well as various IT, PM and peace trainings to countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan, Iraq and South Sudan. We received three external regional telecoms awards for our work supporting education in Iraqi refugee camps. I was responsible for risk management, programme management, impact reporting and all partner (technology, operator and NGO) relations.
