After taking time out of the workforce to start a family, the opportunity to transition from the technical realm to the finance realm presented itself. I was brought on board Midwest Capital Mortgage because the owner knew that the mortgage business could be learned, but good business sense, ethics, and interpersonal skills could not. Learned the mortgage business quickly and mainly utilized Conventional and FHA financing. Handled loans for refinances, purchases and custom construction. Originated and processed loans to learn all phases of the loan process. Successfully marketed small business services from the ground up.

Worked on a wide variety of projects. The last a most challenging one was as the software lead for the Hellfire missile portion of the HH60-H Helicopter project - the purpose of this project was to arm the helicopter so it could defend itself while on search and rescue missions. Throughout the various projects in the defense industry, I learned and refined several important skills: Refined my communication and interpersonal skills Learned how to make complex subject matter easier to understand. Learned to actively listen to people in order to discern and then solve their problem. Became a strong advocate of having and adhering to good processes - this applies to both engineering and business. Refined leadership abilities by both managing and team and being a part of one. NOTEABLE ACHIEVMENTS: Created and maintain a custom spreadsheet that makes presenting financing options to customers easier. The sales person can run various scenarios based on the customer's "hot buttons" As the market changes, the changes are reflected in spreadsheets to ensure that we provide the customer with an accurate estimate of what the home will cost them. Rewrote the corporate mortgage basic training course to make it more user friendly and applicable to what the new sales people will face in the field. Trained sales people in home finance and overcoming financial objections. Able to show the value of our company's offering and persuade buyers using an outside lender to switch to Pulte Mortgage. This allows the builder to control his backlog and achieve the capture rate goal.
