  My responsibilities included setting up and maintaing video equipment out in the field, data collection, video analysis/editing, and fish identification.We filmed fishes movements at a semi natural fish-way in western mass. Fishes upstream and downstream movements were recorded and analyzed. Fish were identified to family, and noted whether juvenile or adult. Data was used to assess the functionality of the constructed semi natural fish-way. Data was also used to identify seasonal migrations of juvenile fish from a lentic to lotic system.

  USGS directed a team of GCC students to facilitate gathering data as part of the “Downstream Project”. Atlantic Salmon that had been released from hatcheries in central Vermont into the Connecticut River were navigating down river to the ocean. We were to capture, identify and record all fish that passed through a power plant in Turners Falls. By directing the water that exited the sleuth gate into a shoot we were able capture any fish that was moving downstream. We gathered fin clips and length of Atlantic Salmon smolt after sedation.
