Interpreting and Translation volunteer internship (3.5 months)Experience in ・Consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of lectures onboard: Interpreting lectures delivered by onboard guest educators, on-board information sessions and NGO forums at port. Lectures covered topics such as sustainability, peace, international relations, human rights and other global issues, as well as the history, society, culture and current political situation of visited countries, and were held on average three or four times each day. This task also includes background study and meetings with guest educators prior to lectures. Also in charge of on board information sessions, interpreting at NGO forums at ports.・Consecutive interpretation and support of language classes: Supporting various language classes (English and Spanish) held regularly onboard.・Tour Interpreting and group leading during programmes in port: Interpreting for local guides, cultural exchange participants and other programmes organized by Peace Boat. ・Interpreting during informal get-togethers:Using linguistic skills to act as a bridge between various parties participating on many events organized onboard to let guest educators and participants get to know each other better in an informal setting.・Guest educator care: Accompanying international guest educators, international students and other participants for meals, or onboard events only held in Japanese, to help them fully understand and enjoy the activities.・Translation work: Translation of various office documents and information necessary for the running of the ship. These include:1. Guest educators' introduction profiles, lecture summaries and handouts.2. Documents compiling background information regarding lecture themes, key points, vocabulary lists, etc.3. Information sheets regarding activities in port4. Daily schedules and newspapers, produced in Japanese daily5. Various items necessary for running of the ship.
